Sewing Workshops
These open sew workshops are so popular at the studio, and for good reason, each student gets to pick a garment that they want to make and wear, the choice is yours.
These blocks are designed so a more in depth project or a number of projects can be picked and worked on in continuous sessions at your own pace. We only offer six spots per day to maximize one on one attention.
This allows for lots of conversation and collaboration, so you many choose which sewing techniques you would like to include or learn as the day's progress.
We love to work on projects for special occasions such as a wedding dress, ball gown or corset, or we can focus on adding to your closet by making a button down shirt, pants, jacket or dress.
If you have a garment that you need to finish, or you want to understand the techniques you have learnt in a smaller class enviroment, we can focus on that too.
I often have students bring jackets and other Couture garments that they would like to complete.
You can also bring your own pattern, if you have a specific garment you'd like to make,
Or, choose something to make in these sessions from any of the classes we already offer and we will have the pattern ready on your first day. Most of these garments already have samples sewn in each size at the studio so you are able to try them first.
And some students love to just make muslins the entire time, and go home with some well fitting patterns ready to sew at your own pace.
The choice is entirely yours!
Each day is designed to offer support, enhance skills and give you the confidence to take on more complex projects once you leave from beginner to advanced. We focus on adding to your skill set, using both ready to wear and Couture techniques.
Sessions are available once a month, running Thursday through Sunday - and each day can be booked individually or as a block.

FAQ's
What level should I be sewing at to take this class?
This class is a confident beginner and up. You understand patterns, and grainlines and have made two or three garments that you wear!
How many students are there per class?
I like to teach a maximum of 6 Students.
How much 1-1 time will I get?
Each students will get as much time - both as a group and individually - as they need in order to construct their garment. The aim is for each student to complete their garment having fully understood each step, so they can build off their new skillset for future individual projects.
Can I bring my own sewing machine and/or notions?
Yes! If you have a sewing machine you love to use, you are welcome to bring it. If you have a machine that you do not use often and need help with, then please plan on using the studio machines.
Scissors, pins, threads, etc are all supplied but if you have your own favorites, then of course, bring those! We just ask that you label them and take full responsibility for your items while in class.
Will I finish my garment in class?
We try to make sure all projects can be completed in the time allotted unless otherwise stated when booking.
Some of the ongoing classes and workshops may have the potential for some voluntary homework or the option for extra learning but it cannot be guaranteed that any garment, item, or project will be completed in its entirety during the physical time spent in the studio.
What refreshments and snacks will be available?
Local treats, king cakes, bagels for breakfast, coffee and tea throughout the day... and a BYOB if you feel like celebrating at the end of a fun class. There is a small fridge, a Keurig, water cooler, microwave, and toaster in the studio and these can be used throughout the day.
As we are in the Quarter, there are lots of food options as well as delivery, so we will make a list of those available to you before lunchtime rolls around.
You are also welcome to bring snacks and lunch to eat at the studio if you prefer.
