Got a Question?

We've got an answer.

INSIDE THE STUDIO

What equipment is available in my class?

You will have full access to all the sewing machines, sergers, and pressing tools.  There is also a wide range of tools, pattern paper, tracing paper, measuring tapes, chalks, and pins available to use when you are at the studio.

We have three permanent ironing stations, and temporary ones can be set up immediately if more are needed.   Dress forms ranging from a size 6 to a 22 at present with more coming.

Why Janome and Brother machines?

I felt it was important to stock the studio with affordable, easy to use machines.

Buying a machine can be overwhelming and potentially expensive,  it is easy to spend far more than you need to, especially when you are just starting out.   Most garments require nothing more than a straight stitch, back tack and zipper foot.

Can I bring my own machine instead?

Of course! We only ask that you are confident at using it as we cannot offer help and support with any machine brought in by a student.

Why are you using patterns from independent companies such as Closet Core, By Hand, Orange Lingerie and Pauline Alice?

We believe in supporting independent, woman-owned businesses whenever possible. These small companies (and many more) are wonderful resources and we hope our students will continue to support them after completing a class.

VISITING NEW ORLEANS

Some Parking & Transportation Options

Premium Parking is located at 200 N. Rampart Street, a short walk from the studio. There are plenty of competitive parking lots in the Quarter as well as alternative side street parking. We suggest downloading the Premium Parking app (lot P347) and the ParkMobile app for updated street parking in the quarter.

And, of course, don’t forget the street cars - the nearest stop is on North Rampart a block from the studio.

Attendance, Covid & Conduct Policies

We continue to monitor the Covid situation, but do ask that you either be fully vaccinated, have a negative test within 48 hours of the commencement of a class OR wear a mask at all times. We do require that you carry the relevant documents and ask that it be emailed/ texted if requested.

And while we understand that things happen, we ask that you be on time for all classes, workshops, and events. Please call if you are running late so we do not delay the class. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to all classes starting. There are no make-up options should you miss some of a class, but some open studio time can be booked with Leisa if you prefer not to finish a garment or project alone. Please discuss this option before leaving the studio on the day of the class.

We work on the assumption that all projects will be completed in the time allotted unless otherwise stated when booking. Some ongoing classes and workshops will have homework or the option for extra learning, but it cannot be guaranteed that any garment, item, or project will be completed in its entirety during the time physically spent in the studio.
